The Melvindale Cardinals pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Garden City 71-65. Melvindale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Garden City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emilio Licea out in front who scored eight points. Ethan Hiett was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 12 rebounds.
Melvindale's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9. As for Garden City, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-12.
Melvindale will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Robichaud knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully the Cardinals likes a good challenge. As for Garden City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m.
