Softball Recap: Decatur Central Wins Going Away Against Pike

Decatur Central's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Pike Red Devils. That looming 21-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hawks yet this season.

Caylee Davis looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Harlow Estes was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maycee Hayman, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Decatur Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pike only posted a batting average of .067.

Decatur Central's record is now 8-9. As for Pike, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Coming up, Decatur Central will be taking part in a tournament against Southport at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Pike, they will venture away from home to take on Lawrence North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
