The Jacobs Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central. Jacobs has struggled against Central recently, as their match on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Jacobs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Treval Howard, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Jurzak, who scored 17 points.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Johnson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with two steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Caden West was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Jacobs' loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-12. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.
Jacobs will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against McHenry at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. McHenry will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Central, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Crystal Lake Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Crystal Lake Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Tuesday.
