The IDEA South Flores Owls waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 56-49 win over Varsity Opponent. That's another feather in the cap for IDEA South Flores, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
IDEA South Flores had a senior duo take command as Vashon Philips scored 20 points along with three steals and Jose Hernandez scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Philips hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Rodarte, who scored eight points along with three steals and three blocks.
IDEA South Flores pushed their record up to 5-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Varsity Opponent, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 276-1061-2 record this season.
