The Elite Academy Eagles lost against the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Elite Academy was beaten by Calvary Christian Academy 78-43. While losing is never fun, Elite Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Calvary Christian Academy is ranked fifth).
Calvary Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Roland, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Paul, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Elite Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Elite Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) on December 27th. Calvary Christian Academy will take on Centennial in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at. Centennial will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
