The Spring Hill Bears were the 37-29 winner over the Centerpoint Knights when they last played one another back in December of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Spring Hill took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centerpoint on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Spring Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Centerpoint is ranked 37th).
Centerpoint got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyssa Hewitt out in front who scored 16 points along with four steals. Hewitt has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Cook, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Spring Hill and nudges their season record down to 5-8. As for Centerpoint, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Hill will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Hope on Friday. Hope comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Centerpoint will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Ouachita on Friday.
