Woodland is 2-8 against Barnwell since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wolverines will venture away from home to take on the Warhorses at 6:00 p.m. Woodland will be strutting in after a win while Barnwell will be coming in after a loss.
Woodland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Hampton County with a sharp 14-6 victory on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Woodland got a big performance out of JT Milligan, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Milligan a new career-high. Robbie Infinger also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Woodland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.
Meanwhile, Barnwell has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.91 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell just short of South Aiken by a score of 13-12. The Warhorses' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Cameron Austin was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five runs, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Vinny Gibson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Hayden Pierce, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Woodland and bumps their season record up to 5-13. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Barnwell, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.
Woodland might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Barnwell in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
