Escambia County hasn't had much luck against Jackson recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Escambia County Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Jackson Aggies at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with 17 losses in a row dating back to last season, Escambia County turned things around against Hillcrest on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-9 margin over the Jaguars.
Zyneria McNeal was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Six bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah King, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Escambia County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .826. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jackson entered their tilt with W.S. Neal on Tuesday with six consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with seven. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 19-1 victory. Considering the Aggies have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Zoey Rooks made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Rooks was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 contests.
In other batting news, Jackson got a massive performance out of Gabby Howard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Howard a new career-high. Autumn Rocker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.
Jackson's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.5 runs. As for Escambia County, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Escambia County might still be hurting after the 19-2 defeat they got from Jackson when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Escambia County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
