Basketball Recap: Buckeye Skates Past Verrado with Ease

Buckeye won the last time they faced Verrado and things went their way on Thursday too. The Buckeye Hawks breezed by the Verrado Vipers to the tune of 62-20. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buckeye to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tia Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Chapman has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Kiria Avila Escarcega was another key player, putting up 12 points and five steals.

Buckeye's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44.7 points. As for Verrado, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Coincidentally, Buckeye and Verrado will both be playing Youngker the next time they take the court. Buckeye will head out to face Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Verrado will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
