Despite the loss, Lovington still got an impressive performance from Ashelynn Borunda, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points along with eight boards and six assists. The game was Borunda's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Shouse, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.
Carlsbad's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Lovington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
Carlsbad will be playing at home against Clovis at 5:30 p.m. on January 28th. Clovis will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Carlsbad surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lovington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 83-35 victory against Chaparral on the 24th.
