If the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets were feeling good off their 49-10 takedown of the Wheeler County Bulldogs on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jeff Davis fell 37-26 to Atkinson County on Friday. While losing is never fun, Jeff Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Atkinson County is ranked 220th).
Atkinson County was led to victory by Kamari Moore and Ja'Kari Northcutt. Moore scored 15 points, while Northcutt scored 15 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Moore has scored at least 25% of Atkinson County's points.
Jeff Davis has yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 1-6 record. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Atkinson County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jeff Davis will challenge Toombs County at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Atkinson County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Echols County at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th.
