Alexander Central is 3-0 against Foard since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Alexander Central Cougars will jump right back in to play the Foard Tigers at 10:30 a.m. Hopefully Alexander Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Alexander Central had to settle for a 51-48 loss against St. Stephens. Alexander Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Alexander Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chad Lasher, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayon Connor, who scored nine points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Foard struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (Maiden had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Foard fell 49-38 to Maiden. While losing is never fun, Foard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Maiden is ranked 116th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Holden Caldwell, who scored 14 points. Carson Bess was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Foard struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Alexander Central has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Foard's record is now 3-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Alexander Central hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.2 points per game. It's a different story for Foard, though, as they've been averaging only 57.2 points per game. The only thing between Alexander Central and another offensive beatdown is Foard. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Alexander Central against Foard in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 as the team secured a 60-20 win. Does Alexander Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Foard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
