The Peetz Bulldogs will face off against the Idalia Wolves at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are still undefeated (Peetz has 11 wins , while Idalia has 12 dating back to last season).
Peetz is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Otis 31-30.
Meanwhile, Idalia faced Sierra Grande in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wolves claimed a resounding 56-7 win over the Panthers. Fans of the Wolves have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Idalia's win came from a few key players Peetz will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kolby Morris, who rushed for 70 yards and two scores. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August. Hunter Drullinger was in the mix too, providing Idalia with two TDs.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Idalia proved: they limited Sierra Grande to a paltry zero yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Morris stood above the rest. He rushed for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Idalia didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.6.
Idalia's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Jace Morris was the leader with two. Another thorn in Sierra Grande's side was Gabe Kechter, who made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Peetz's record is now 11-0. As for Idalia, their record now sits at 12-0.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Peetz has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 240.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Idalia struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 245.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Peetz took a serious blow against Idalia when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 64-12. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
