Wheatmore is 1-9 against Providence Grove since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wheatmore Warriors will take on the Providence Grove Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Wheatmore will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Uwharrie Charter Academy, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. Wheatmore enjoyed a cozy 63-46 victory over Uwharrie Charter Academy on Thursday. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Wheatmore relied on the efforts of Parker Kines, who went 10-for-15 on his way to 25 points and five boards, and Wyatt Stepp, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 22 points. The contest was Kines' fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Caleb Coggins was another key player, putting up two points and seven rebounds.
Wheatmore was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Uwharrie Charter Academy only racked up eight assists.
Meanwhile, Providence Grove played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 89-62 loss at the hands of Eastern Randolph. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Wildcats are ranked 203rd).
Wheatmore will have to contain Will Dabbs as he made an impact in Providence Grove's last game. He went 9-for-18 en route to 26 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Beeson, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.
Providence Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Wheatmore, their record is now 10-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wheatmore has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Providence Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Wheatmore ended up a good deal behind Providence Grove in their previous meeting on Tuesday, losing 71-54. Can Wheatmore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
