The South Milwaukee Rockets will take on the Kenosha Tremper Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Milwaukee's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Kenosha Tremper's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
South Milwaukee's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Indian Trail hitters got past them. The Rockets took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks on Monday. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Amber Helgren was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Kenosha Tremper waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 12-1 victory.
Kenosha Tremper also got a great performance from Hannah Holmes as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Holmes a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Vivian Meier was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Camille Sporer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Kenosha Tremper kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Kenosha Tremper pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for South Milwaukee, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
South Milwaukee came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenosha Tremper in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
