Williston-Elko is 1-9 against Wagener-Salley since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Williston-Elko Blue Devils on the road again and play against the Wagener-Salley War Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Williston-Elko suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Calhoun County on the road and fell 58-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Williston-Elko has scored all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Wagener-Salley, who are still winless after their 12th game. They were beaten by Denmark-Olar 101-39 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Wagener-Salley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Denmark-Olar is ranked 68th).
Williston-Elko's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Wagener-Salley, they bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Williston-Elko came up short against Wagener-Salley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 57-52. Can Williston-Elko avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
