Wayne has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will head out to take on the Valley Buffalos at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Wayne didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Green River on Wednesday. The Badgers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 12 runs or more this season.
Rj Pau'U was incredible, going 2-for-3 while posting 4 stolen bases, 4 runs, and 1 RBI. The game also marked his eighth in a row where he got on base at least two times. Another player making a difference was Luke Beecher, who went 3-for-4 while posting 3 RBI, 2 runs, and 1 double.
Wayne took advantage of their speed and finished the game with seven stolen bases. They have not posted that many stolen bases since the 14th, when they snagged 13.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley). They never let Pinnacle get on the board and left with a 29-0 win on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Buffalos with their most commanding win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Bronx Withers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 while posting 5 RBI, 3 runs, and 1 triple. Jake Figgins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 while logging 2 RBI, 2 runs, and 1 walk.
Wayne has kept their early-season momentum rolling, opening the year 8-2 after taking eight of their first 10 matchups. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.4 runs this season. As for Valley, their record is currently 3-1.
