The Lemoore Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 64-48 win over Mission Oak. Given Lemoore's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Mission Oak is ranked 807th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Kaden Lopes, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Mora, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Azevedo, who scored 12 points. Levi Jimenez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Lemoore has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Mission Oak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
Lemoore won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Frontier at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Mission Oak, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tulare Union at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tulare Union knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Mission Oak likes a good challenge.
