Oakman's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-3 margin over the Dora Bulldogs. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Ila Kate Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed over her last seven games. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Journi Randle was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lizzy Cagle was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.
The win got Oakman back to even at 11-11. As for Dora, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakman will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Winfield at 4:30 p.m. on March 31st. Winfield's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Oakman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
