The Rickards Raiders entered their tilt with the Chiles Timberwolves with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Rickards slipped by Chiles 40-39 on Thursday. Given Rickards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Chiles is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Benjamin Plummer, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Romie Cosby, who scored seven points.
Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylon Burgess, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Bundrage, who scored 16 points.
Rickards pushed their record up to 19-6 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Chiles, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10.
Rickards will face off against Middleburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chiles, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wakulla at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Wakulla focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Tuesday.
