Somerset Prep and the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Somerset Prep is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Saturday, Somerset Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Southridge, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory.
Riley Stoker was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Gagnon, who scored five points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas was able to grind out a solid victory over Dillard on Wednesday, taking the game 48-37. Given St. Thomas Aquinas' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Dillard is ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Somerset Prep's record is now 15-6. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Somerset Prep was taken down by St. Thomas Aquinas 66-37 in their previous meeting back in December of 2018. Can Somerset Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
