The Nunamiut Amaguq's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Non Varsity Opponent. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Nunamiut in their matchups with Non Varsity Opponent: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Nunamiut saw an underclassman step up: Kevin Gordon dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed five or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justus Mulcahy, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Nunamiut dropped their record down to 4-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Non Varsity Opponent, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 148-252-1.
Nunamiut's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fort Yukon at 2:00 p.m. on February 16th. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will face off against Meeteetse at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
