Basketball Recap: De'andre Harvey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Williston over Andrew Jackson

Williston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 65-44 to the Andrew Jackson Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Tigers are ranked eighth).

Williston's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was De'Andre Harvey, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Harvey's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Washington, who posted 11 points.

Andrew Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jahari Simmons, who went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points and four steals. Simmons is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Terrell Mosely was another key player, going 7 for 12 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Williston's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Andrew Jackson, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Williston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 63-49 win against Fort White on the 4th. Andrew Jackson has also already played their next contest, a 69-27 victory against San Jose Prep on the 8th.
