Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Skates Past Berea with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Blue Ridge's strategy against Berea on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers blew the Berea Bulldogs out of the water with a 57-22 final score. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Fighting Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Blue Ridge was led to victory by Opal Maralit and Audrey Harkins. Maralit went 7 for 16 en route to 25 points along with six boards and six steals, while Harkins went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and three steals. Maralit is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Talia Maxwell, who posted two points in addition to 11 rebounds and five steals.

Blue Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Berea, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will take on Daniel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Blue Ridge comes in on three and Daniel on four. Berea has already played their next contest (against Pickens), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
