The Granite Hills Cougars will square off against the Eastside Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Granite Hills has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Granite Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Big Bear as they made off with a 32-12 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Young looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Granite Hills got a massive performance out of Saylor Croom, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. Those six RBI gave Croom a new career-high. Emily Marks was another key player, going 5-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Granite Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Eastside duked it out with Hamilton on Thursday. The Lions came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 7-4. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Hailey Lavendier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Lavendier was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Julia Green was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Ynestroza, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Granite Hills' record is now 11-8. As for Eastside, their record now sits at 17-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Granite Hills has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
