The Western Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Chaminade-Madonna on Monday as Western made off with a 87-66 win. Given Western's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Chaminade-Madonna is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Western's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stefan Frisby, who scored 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Frisby hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Alex Vardakis was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Western has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Western won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Calusa Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Calusa Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Western likes a good challenge. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they will head out on the road to face off against Stranahan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stranahan will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
