Brown County is 0-6 against Greencastle since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to take on the Tiger Cubs at 6:00 p.m.
Brown County is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They fell 8-3 to Edinburgh.
Jade Woolems made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. Mason Hazelgrove also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Greencastle came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tiger Cubs, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Cayden Scott looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Gooch, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Bryton Gregg was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Greencastle pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Brown County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brown County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greencastle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brown County might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Greencastle in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
