Two dominant guards in Michael Mcculley and Gabriel Short are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Kingman Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the River Valley Dust Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kingman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Kingman scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Odyssey Institute at home to the tune of 72-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Kingman has posted since December 6, 2023.
Meanwhile, River Valley pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 85-62 defeat to American Leadership Academy - West Foothills might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss River Valley has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Despite the defeat, River Valley had strong showings from Nash Hanrahan, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 4 assists, and Short, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hanrahan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nysaiah Vargas, who scored 11 points.
Kingman pushed their record up to 8-9 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for River Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Kingman strolled past River Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 61-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kingman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
