Two dominant guards in Nick Madsen and Jason Castro are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The GV Christian Guardians will be playing at home against the Laughlin Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (GV Christian is ranked 85th, while Laughlin is ranked 99th).
GV Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Southeast Career Tech 76-38 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for GV Christian as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
GV Christian can attribute much of their success to Deomani Loveland, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and four steals, and Madsen, who almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Madsen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Terrance Turner, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Laughlin was beaten by Needles 102-32 last Friday. Laughlin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 62-15.
GV Christian's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Laughlin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Everything went GV Christian's way against Laughlin when the teams last played back in January as GV Christian made off with a 52-27 victory. Will GV Christian repeat their success, or does Laughlin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
