The Cedar Valley Aviators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Springville. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cedar Valley in their matchups with Springville: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Aviators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Bawden, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bawden has scored all season. Heath Christensen was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with four steals.
Jamyn Sondrup was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 16 rebounds for Springville. Sondrup hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Mason Hansen, who scored 20 points.
Cedar Valley's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Springville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar Valley will face off against Wasatch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 645 points over their last ten matches. As for Springville, they will head out on the road to face off against Timpview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springville is coming into the matchup with three straight wins on the road, so Timpview is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
