Shields walked away with a 52-42 victory over Hillcrest. Given Shields' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Hillcrest is ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hillcrest's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ashlyn Kyser, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Kyser continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sonija Evans, who scored 9 points along with 6 steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Shields and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Hillcrest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Shields will play host again and welcome W.S. Neal, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillcrest will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Escambia County at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th.
