The Smithfield Packers will head out on the road to challenge the Warhill Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
If Smithfield beats Warhill with 11 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Packers never let Bruton get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Packers.
Quincy Carr made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Carr was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Tanner Brobst and Cole Barnes did most of the damage at the plate: Brobst went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run, while Barnes got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave Barnes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddox Tugwell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Warhill hadn't done well against Jamestown recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Lions blew past the Eagles 14-0.
Landen Caldeyro looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Warhill let Brayden Muniz and Evan Harney run wild. Muniz went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Harney went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Price, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Warhill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jamestown only posted an OBP of .300.
Smithfield's record now sits at 2-0. As for Warhill, their record is now 3-0.
Smithfield came up short against Warhill in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 7-3. Can the Packers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
