After flying high against the Swanville Bulldogs last Thursday, the Upsala Cardinals came back down to earth. Upsala took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Braham on Monday. While losing is never fun, Upsala can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Braham is ranked 103rd).
Upsala's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brenna Graves, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Graves is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Zoey Leners was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Upsala's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Braham, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Upsala will be playing at home against Bertha-Hewitt at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Braham, they will head out on the road to challenge Mora at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
