The Cocalico Eagles lost against the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Cocalico fell to Lampeter-Strasburg 52-46. It was the first time this season that Cocalico let down their fans at home.
Chase Smucker was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points for Lampeter-Strasburg. Smucker is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dean Herr, who scored five points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Cocalico's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Cocalico will be playing in front of their home fans against Lancaster Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Lancaster Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Cocalico likes a good challenge. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, they will head out on the road to take on Donegal at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Donegal is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
