The Colony Cougars will be playing at home against the Saginaw Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, The Colony made easy work of Azle and carried off a 41-19 victory.
The Colony found their leader in underclassman Kendrick Mcclodden, who rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Carson Cox, who rushed for 47 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Saginaw, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They and Azle were almost perfectly matched up two weeks ago, but Saginaw suffered an agonizing 34-33 loss.
Despite the defeat, Saginaw had strong showings from Corey Baker, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown, and Benjamin Cordova, who picked up 71 receiving yards and a touchdown. Tyler Self got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The Colony's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points per game. As for Saginaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for The Colony against Saginaw in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 59-3 win. Will The Colony repeat their success, or does Saginaw have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
