The Stuyvesant Peglegs will face off against the Lane Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Stuyvesant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Stuyvesant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Flushing with a sharp 21-5 win on Monday.
Dean Hevenstone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Hevenstone was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season.
In other batting news, Stuyvesant got a massive performance out of Rohail Shah, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jacob Mui, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Stuyvesant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-0 to Grand Street Campus, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Stuyvesant's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lane, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Lane's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Stuyvesant has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. It's a different story for Lane, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Stuyvesant's hitters?
Everything went Stuyvesant's way against Lane in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Stuyvesant made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Peglegs repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
