The Cambridge School is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Monarch a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Cambridge School Griffins will look to defend their home court against the Monarch Royals at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Wednesday, The Cambridge School didn't have quite enough to beat Mountain Empire and fell 3-2. While the Griffins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Redhawks 25-20 in the first set.
The Cambridge School actually scored more points across those five sets (104-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-18, 14-25, 25-22, 16-14.
Meanwhile, Monarch lost 3-0 to Bayfront Charter on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Royals have suffered against the Sharks since October 25, 2016.
While Monarch was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Bayfront Charter's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14, 25-21.
The Cambridge School's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Monarch, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Everything went The Cambridge School's way against Monarch in their previous matchup back in September, as The Cambridge School made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Griffins repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
