Booker T. Washington has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. After both having extra time off, the Booker T. Washington Warriors and the Middle College Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Booker T. Washington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 two weeks ago.
Two weeks ago, Booker T. Washington came up short against Hamilton and fell 42-35.
Despite their defeat, Booker T. Washington saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. LeAnna Carpenter, who scored ten points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Cariyonna Banks, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Middle College had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it four two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 54-14 win over King Prep at home. Middle College has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.
Middle College's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Khadija Jackson, who scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. Gabrielle Rudd was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Booker T. Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Middle College, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
Wednesday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Booker T. Washington have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Middle College struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Booker T. Washington was taken down by Middle College 56-21 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Booker T. Washington was down 33-12.
