The Fletcher Senators lost against the Ponte Vedra Sharks back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Fletcher wound up with the same score they had in their last game (57-47), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Ponte Vedra: they've now lost eight in a row.
Fletcher lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ryder Kay, who scored 14 points. McCarthy Crenshaw was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Ponte Vedra was led to victory by David Sanchez Barrera and Sam Ritchie. Sanchez Barrera scored 17 points along with seven assists, while Ritchie scored 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sanchez Barrera scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Cowan, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Fletcher now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Ponte Vedra, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5.
Fletcher will square off against St. Augustine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Augustine is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Ponte Vedra won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Viera at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th.
