Basketball Recap: Jane Kennedy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hathaway Brown over Mayfield

Hathaway Brown was the 59-52 winner over Mayfield when they last played one another back in December of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Hathaway Brown Blazers took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mayfield Wildcats on Saturday.

Several Blazers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jane Kennedy, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds. Kennedy has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Morgan, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists.

Even though they lost, Hathaway Brown was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hathaway Brown dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mayfield, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hathaway Brown will host Austintown-Fitch at 11:45 a.m. on December 21st. Mayfield and Aurora will compete for holiday cheer at 4:00 p.m. on December 23rd.
