The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mitchell, who took down 249th ranked Land O'Lakes, 27-17. Dan Barber ran for 263 yards in the win.
Springstead extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 6 this week by beating Central, 42-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Eagles.
Nature Coast Tech's dynamic duo of Trevor Castro and Jonathan Thomas proved tough for Sunlake to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Castro threw for 85 yards and one touchdown and Thomas had 79 yards receiving. Ryan Roscillo helped Nature Coast Tech's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Tyler Mahla of Springstead is the league leader in passing yards this season with 498. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, the Sharks' Matthew Breida has rushed for 886 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Thomas. The Nature Coast Tech star has 15 catches for 201 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bill Vonada's team takes on River Ridge. As it stands, the Eagles are in first, while the Knights /Royal are in sixth.
The Mustangs moved up to 260 from 305 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 6A District 6. Mitchell was able to make the jump by beating the Gators 27-17.
