Basketball Recap: Chester Drops Season-High Score on Burney

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chester). They blew past the Burney Raiders 64-44 on Friday. The score was close at the half, but the Volcanoes pulled away in the second half with 38 points.

Despite the defeat, Burney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore James Fields dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The game was Fields' third in a row with at least ten points. Germaine Maldonado was another key player, putting up eight points.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Chester, bringing their record for this year to 7-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Burney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Coincidentally, Chester and Burney will both be playing Surprise Valley the next time they take the court. Chester will head out to face Surprise Valley at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Burney will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
