The Juniata Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Selinsgrove Seals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Juniata comes in on three and Selinsgrove on ten.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Juniata walked away with it. They took down the Bulldogs 21-7 on Friday. That's two games straight that Juniata has won by exactly 14 points.
Juniata got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Ehrenzeller out in front who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 116 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Meadville to a paltry 137 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Juniata's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out four times before it was all said and done. Meadville's QB won't forget Lane Peiper anytime soon given Peiper sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Selinsgrove didn't have too much trouble with Bethlehem Catholic on the road on Friday as they won 28-13.
Tucker Teats continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 223 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Teats' longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards.
Their wins bumped Juniata to 8-5 and Meadville to 9-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Juniata has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Selinsgrove struggles in that department as they've been even better at 263.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Juniata took a serious blow against Selinsgrove when the teams last played back in September, falling 38-8. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Selinsgrove's Teats, who rushed for 228 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Now that Juniata knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
