Basketball Recap: Lanesville Comes Up Short

Lanesville was the 55-19 winner over West Washington when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell 57-44 to the Senators on Saturday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Lanesville still got an impressive performance from Libby Saier, who posted 15 points and four steals. Saier is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Simler, who earned ten points and five boards.

Jayla Batt was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds for West Washington. That makes it four consecutive games in which Batt has scored at least a third of the Senators' points. Delia Brown also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Lanesville's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for West Washington, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Lanesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-39 win against South Central on the 26th. As for West Washington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-40 victory against Salem on the 25th.
