It was a good run, but the Sparta Academy Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 39-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jackson Academy. The contest was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but Sparta Academy was outscored by Jackson Academy in the second.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamie Ellissa Deason, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 37.5% of Sparta Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mary Trainham Brock, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Sparta Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Jackson Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Sparta Academy will be playing at home against Patrician Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jackson Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Sparta Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
