Mylee Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morghyn Ross, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Cuba-Rushford made easy work of Friendship on Thursday and carried off a 15-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Cuba-Rushford got a massive performance out of Claire Moyer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four hits gave Moyer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Quinn, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Cuba-Rushford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fillmore's record is now 9-4. As for Cuba-Rushford, their record now sits at 10-3.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fillmore has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Cuba-Rushford struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fillmore skirted past Cuba-Rushford 6-5 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
