It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Churchill ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Bend Lava Bears 66-63. The Lancers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Churchill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charlie Dexter led the charge by going 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Gutierrez, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points.

Churchill was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bend's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Dildine, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Hattenhauer, who posted 16 points.

The win got Churchill back to even at 4-4. As for Bend, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.

Churchill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-41 victory against Beaverton on the 3rd. As for Bend, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 81-61 win against Klamath Union on the 3rd.
