Softball Recap: Booker T. Washington Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Florida Baptist Academy, Booker T. Washington was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Pensacola Tigers. The Wildcats not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2025 (when they won 20-5).

Khaycee Mack made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Wise, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lana Van Wyck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Booker T. Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pensacola only managed six.

Booker T. Washington's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-16. As for Pensacola, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Booker T. Washington will square off against Laurel Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hoboes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.56 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pensacola, they will take on Choctawhatchee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
