Basketball Game Preview: Westside Christian Academy Eagles vs. Saint Thomas More Academy Griffins

The Westside Christian Academy Eagles and the Saint Thomas More Academy Griffins will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Westside Christian Academy blew past Tournament Opponent, posting an 80-35 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Westside Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Calvin Cottenden, who shot 66% from the field to rack up 39 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cottenden has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Douglass, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.

Westside Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Saint Thomas More Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Varsity Opponent on Thursday, taking the game 81-73.

Westside Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points over those games. Saint Thomas More Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
