Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Foothill Falcons, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a tough 43-22 defeat at the hands of Faith Lutheran on Friday. It was the first time this season that Foothill let down their fans at home.
Foothill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Eugene Altobella III, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Mason Dew, who threw for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Cale Breslin was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Wandley Wilson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Faith Lutheran's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. Leading the way was Cole Keith and his three sacks.
Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Faith Lutheran, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Foothill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Faith Lutheran will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Green Valley is ranked 13th, while Faith Lutheran is ranked eighth).
